On the way to Spartathlon 2013

I received a great news a few weeks ago that my Spartathlon 20013 application was accepted. This has now been confirmed by receiving official registration form. I am very excited to become a participant of this major endurance event.Just to explain for those who are not familiar with this event, Spartathlon is an ultimate ultramarathon with the start in Athens (Acropolis) and finish line in Sparta. A total distance of 244 km has to be completed within 36 hours and tough checkpoint cut-off times. The hot weather, distance, and elevation profile of the course makes this race one of the toughest sport challenges on the planet.

After a successful participation in last year’s Norseman Xtreme Triathlon, one of the world’s hardest ironman triathlons, this is another step in my “career”of an endurance athlete.

If you happen to be somewhere between Athens and Sparta on September 27th and 28th, come and say a word of support for me.

    Hi Michal!
I am a Spartan (living in Athens) and I am very touched and proud that athletes like yourself are coming to Greece to participate in this historic race. I will be at the starting line to support you and my family (father, mother, sister, niece & nephew) will be at the foot of Leonidas.
I wish you the very best.

      Hello Pat,
Thanks for your post and encouragement.
I will be at the starting line next Friday full of expectations, since this race will be somewhat tougher than last year’s Norseman Xtreme Triathlon.
And hope to be able to touch the foot of Leonidas in Sparta!
      Best,
      Michal
