Introducing Traeictio Translation Management System
As a professional full-time freelance translator, I focus on my own projects primarily. However, as the years pass, my client base has been steadily growing as well as requests of my regular clients for translations in other than my own language pairs. I found myself using more and more time on manually performed tasks related to these "external" projects. To save time, there are various software systems around that I checked. None of them quite satisfied me, so I decided to bring my own TMS into life - the Traeictio Translation Management System.
Many of you have probably visited and used the Traeictio (www.traeicio.com) online translation memory with millions of translation units. When thinking about the name of my new TMS system, I decided to keep this name, as it is quite unique on the web.
As of now, the Traeictio Translation Management System is under active development lead by a group of experienced professionals. The first results are expected in a month of so. The system will be initially divided into the Management Portal (dedicated to the system owner with all data on projects, clients, translators, etc.) and the Translator's Portal (dedicated to individual translators, storing all their personal data, projects, etc.). Very interesting parts of the project in terms of saving valuable time is an automated inquiry/quotation service.
The goal of this project is to create a piece of software that would save me time. The system will focus on freelance translators managing their own group of fellow translators and to small and medium sized companies.
I will need some beta testers to cover possible errors and shortages, and to get valuable comments and suggestions. Should anyone be interested, please contact me.
Commercially available systems, such as Plunet or XTRF, are comprehensive, but the bad point is they are complicated and above all expensive. My idea is to provide a simpler, but still robust and comprehensive TMS system at a fraction of cost of other systems. After release, the Traeictio Translation Management System will be offered on the System As a Service basis, i.e. the system will be hosted on my own server and clients will rent the system for a minimum monthly fee.
